9270 was my favourite 2yr velvet. Absolutely beautiful. This year is no different. He has massive beam and is thick everywhere. 9270 is a nice bodied stag with a good nature. Unfortunately he must have had a wee knock around casting as one brow is a bit weaker and on an upward angle slightly.This doesn’t change what we think of him as he was used as a sire at 2yr. This gorgeous Forbes son anchored by a solid Forest Road bottom line will take some letting go!

9277 is a huge stag with massive dark velvet which is thick all the way through. Dam 699/16 was brought from Tower Farm and nicknamed ‘Honey’ from Sue Douglas because of the hinds amazing temperament. 9277 was velvetted a bit early so we could put a cut picture in the catalogue. His velvet is fantastic as is his temperament.

9243 is an absolute brute of a stag! Huge body and massive velvet. The pic doesn’t do the velvet justice... it has huge beam and massive bottom tynes. Has an extra in the trez on one side that wasn’t there with his huge 6.1 kg 2yr head. 9243 was used as a sire as a 2yr old and is anchored by a dam bred out of one of our maiden hinds, mated to a 2yr old, then back to an Xcell grand dam. 9243 has just won 1st place in the Hawkes Bay for 3yr Red Velvet section.

9258 has produced a gorgeous eye catching head of velvet and it has just taken out 2nd place in the Hawkes Bay 3yr Red Velvet section.

He is extremely quiet in nature.

3376 is a top hind here and has produced 5 male offspring that have all been over 6 kg as at 3yr. One of these is 6253 which is the sire of Lot 22 in this catalogue.

9094 is a good sire stag with a great temperament. His velvet is very thick and a shorter style head

9112 is a lovely big stag. He grew the bigest 2yr head last year @ 6.7kg SA and was used for sire duties. 9112 has huge beam and strong tynes, but his tops have gone off a lot quicker than last year!

His Dam 3176 has a 6yr old in the velvet mob cutting 7.9kg plus a 4yr cutting 6 kg and also a daughter that produced a 6.6kg sale 3yr old in our last sale (lot18)

9150 is another stag that puts together the full package of extremely correct, tidy velvet, along with a huge body and quiet temperament which are all typical traits of his sire Omar.

This anchored by the T-Rex bottom line is sure to breed heavy correct velvet.

9039 has produced a stunning head of velvet. Very correct in his bottom tynes and very thick all the way up to the round bulbing tops. One trez has unfortunately split.

Another quiet Gump son with the the power of Bonsai and back to a brought in Rodway hind on the bottom line.

9145 was also used as a sire over yearling hinds this last season. He grew a beautifully correct 2yr head. 9145 is a solid stag with an incredible bottom line.

3416/13 has had another 7.1 kg 3yr old that was sold to Simone Hoskin in our 2019 sale and also a daughter that has produced two plus 6 kg 3yr olds. This cemented with the mighty Aros! Great Sire!

9324 is another exciting Apex son breed out of a Cruse hind. Very late to be cut but a nice big stag. Quiet and very thick velvet are promising.

9137 is a massive stag. Omar is a huge sire with a lovely quiet demeanor and he is leaving these traits in all his progeny.

9137 has produced a velvet competition style head on top of this which makes him tick all the boxes when choosing a sire stag.

419/12 is a top hind here and has bred a daughter (4453/14) that is the dam of Lot 13 2020 sold to Richard Lawson and also the dam of 8123 which cut 8.1 kg @ 3yr and was sold private treaty to Simone Hoskin.

9076 has produced a beautiful head of velvet. This is exactly the type of velvet we love to breed. Clean and tidy in every aspect. 9076 is a good sized stag with a great temperament.

638/11 was a T-Rex son that we used as a 2yr old then was sold to the Gaddum family.

9204 has to be one of my favourites in this years line up. His velvet is extremely thick and round. Brexit is producing some quality progeny for us here and with an Even Stevens/Aros bottom line this will be a good combination.

9204 is also a nice big stag with a great temperament.

As far as velvet style and structure go, they don’t get a lot tidier than 9334.

9334 is a mid sized stag with a placid nature. We purchased a line of 6yr old hinds from Tom Cruse a few years back, that were mated to their current sires of that year.

56/16 is a 530 son and I had the pleasure of seeing him in the velvet on a visit.

56 has very tidy, thick, dark velvet.

9192 is a huge stag! He has basal snags and dark heavy velvet.

9192’s Dam 376/09 is a top producing hind that has bred 2 other sale stags, 5214/15 that was sold private treaty in 2018 and 6373/1 that cut 7.2 kg at 3yr and brought by the Wilson family of Kanui Station and has just cut 13.4 kg at 6yr.

9134 is a huge big bodied stag with a great temperament. His velvet caught our eye in the paddock from an early stage as it was very thick and attractive on the head.

The only animal from the 2019 year group with no dam match, but we are working on this as it is more than likely from a brought in hind!

9201’s velvet is lovely. Bifurcation of a brow on one side, but very clean and correct.

9201 has a proven bottom line with dam 5101 being the dam of Lot 11 2020 (6 kg) of very correct velvet. Once again the Wotdonis/Quinlan anchor on the bottom line is strong.

9383 is a great stag with a cruisy demeanor. His velvet is very strong in the beam and strong in the bottom tynes. One side hasn’t stayed as round as the

other but still an impressive sire.

9383’s sire 6250/16 was sold to Nat Holmes and went on to cut 12 kg @ 5yr before he died unfortunately.

The Even Stevens/T-Rex combo strikes again.

9045 is a good sized quiet Hefner son. Hefner was purchased as Lot 2 from Awawata a few years back and has left very clean, corret velvet. 9045’s velvet is very much a snapshot of his sire’s, with the added grunt of a hefty Wotdonis/Quinlan bottom line to bulk it up!

9384 is out of a maiden hind, 7155, and sired by 6374/16 that was Lot 2 in our 2019 stag sale and was purchased by Evan & Linda Potter.

9384 has dark velvet with a small bump coming on one side with strong bottom tynes and he is a medium sized stag.

Very strong bottom line being an Anvil hind back to the dark heavy velvet of Cobra.

9375 has extremely thick velvet with one double trez with the other side starting to split.

9375 was used as a sire at 2yr and is a very big stag. His sire 6253 had extremely thick short velvet and is anchored back to 3376 which is a top hind. 9375’s dam 7020/17 is a Bonsai daughter back to Dirty Harry. Both stags are popping up a lot now and breeding heavy velvet.

9425 is a big quiet stag. He has strong tynes and long velvet. Another 6261 son (owned by Richard Lawson) crossed with a brought in Arawata hind.

9315 was a later 2yr last season that cut a beautiful 5.0 kg SA head.

He is a mid sized stag but very quiet. Out of all of the Cruse bloodlines, the Apex progeny have been the most consistent in size and style.

9140 had a gorgeous 5 kg 2yr head of velvet, which is backed up by a lovely big quiet stag. We thought that highly of him as a 2yr old that he made the top 8 to be selected for sire duties.

This year he has sustained mild damage early on and has a tear up main beam which happened at first yarding. This has taken a bit out of that side...

But we still rate him very highly.
